The circus is coming to town…

sprockettes1.jpgOK, not quite the circus, but after a four year hiatus, the Tour de Fat is making it’s last stop for the 2007 tour in Austin, Texas on October 20. The event has been described as two parts bike rodeo and one part circus - with environmental sustainability at the heart of the whole shebang. Past events have included fire-jumping bike acts, a parade, cycling games and stunts, music, food and of course great beer (it is sponsored by New Belgium Brewing) - and all proceeds benefit local charities. The Austin stop will raise money for 1) the Yellow Bike Project, a non-profit organization that promotes “human-powered transportation”, 2) Austin Cycling Association, and 3) Austin Ridge Riders.

Last year Tour de Fat traveled to 11 cities, attracted more than 31,000 people and raised more than $166,000.
